I am currently teaching cybersecurity in my classroom by being sure to
include readings and discussions about online safety and privacy. I can assign writing tasks on topics like cyber threats and ethical technology use and talk about real examples to raise awareness. My way of moving forward would be to also begin to use videos and articles to help students grasp the concepts easily. This will also teach digital literacy and responsible online behavior.

Cybersecurity

We teach students to be careful who they share personal information with. To change passwords regularly and to not share them with anyone. We tell them not to click on email links or open links that are not trusted. This is a problem with students and adults in the building.  Because on the outside these may seem legitimate. Also, the new AI can be a challenge that should be addressed.

Cybersecurity it essential to out students, as they are virtually attached to devices now.

Cybersecurity is so important for students to be safe online.  They are just so uninformed in regards to the dangers of their data and personal information, and how it leads to risk and potential harm mentally, physically, or towards others whom are close to them.

All technology is vulnerable - we all need to take part in protecting our personal devices.

I teach K-4 Technology Literacy to the students in my district.  We have talked a lot about not sharing personal information online as well as using strong passwords.  For smaller children, it is just as important to warn them about face-to-face stranger danger as it is to warn them about internet stranger danger.  We have had lessons on how to create strong passwords, and many students have gone home to share this information with their parents.

We make sure that all websites and apps students use are EdLaw2D approved.  All students log in to things through Clever.  We have Securly which allows us to keep an eye on their laptops, block certain sites, and push out certain sites.  Before lessons using nearpod, I explain that everything students post on the internet can be seen by everyone.  I teach students about the risks and responsibilities of using the internet.  Students need to learn about how to keep their data secure.

It is crucial for kids to understand the risks of technology

Currently, I teach my students to protect their personal data and information by encouraging them
to develop secure, unique passwords
to never share devices
to never share passwords with anyone - including friends
to never share personal information or data with anyone online

I will continue to work on this with students.  I can show them some examples of phishing and scams so they can understand just how believable they can be.
