I just copied and pasted this passage from the article and sent it to my 15 year old. It's a total, "I told you so" moment for me. On his remote days he's got at least two screens in front of him. A work screen and a "something else" screen or his phone. It's usually music from YouTube or a chat screen of some sort. I listen to music while working but the visual distraction bothers me. I am trying to convince him to narrow it down to just one work screen.
"Evidence from psychology, cognitive science, and neuroscience suggests that
students who use technology to multitask while learning or studying understand and remember less, become mentally fatigued, and have
greater difficulty transferring what they have
learned to other contexts."
I like the idea of using Nearpod to prevent multi-tasking during lectures.
