Emotional Symptoms___ I have anger directed toward my supervisors or colleagues___ I have been feeling flat, depressed, and hopeless more than I used to___ I have been more angry and irritable than normal___ I have moments of dread when thinking about going to work___ I am having trouble finding hope___ I am less connected to my spiritual and religious beliefs than I used to be___ I have felt overwhelmed more than 3 times the past week
Spiritual Symptoms___ I have been avoiding spending time with my friends and family___ I fear for the safety of myself and my loved ones___ I have engaged less rather than more in activities that used to bring me pleasure___ I have had a lack of time for self___ I find it difficult to trust others___ I have feelings of despair and hopelessness
Professional Symptoms___ I have been unable to get work or work-related issues out of my head___ I have had unwanted memories pop up in my head of past events from work___ My productivity at work has been reduced___ I have felt like quitting my job more than once___ I find paperwork and menial tasks getting in the way of my enjoyment of work5 or more checked could indicate that you are suffering from compassion fatigue symptoms
Physical Symptoms
___ I have had increased absenteeism “sick days”___ I have been feeling physically ill___ I have been feeling fatigued___ I have been feeling keyed-up and nervous___ I am doing less rather than more exercise___ Normal sleep has been more difficult for me___ I have lost enjoyment in intimate and sexual activities
Psychological Symptoms
___ I have noticed myself being more cynical and pessimistic___ I have tried to avoid feelings by numbing or shutting down___ I have had work-related nightmares/bad dreams___ I have lost interest and enjoyment in activities___ I am doing less rather than more exercise___ I have difficulty in making decisions or make poor decisions___ I feel like I have lost some of my self-esteem

Slides 11 and 12 (copied and pasted above) are the ones I spent the most time reading through and went back to more than once.  It is important to make sure that as a teacher we are not suffering from compassion fatigue and if we are, to know how to address this so that we can continue to help others.  I really appreciate this checklist to have a guidance for myself, so that I can continue to do my best to help others.
