Resource

For the resource, I picked Scholastic, which contains many tools and resources to support teaching history. It is a source that I have used before, but not to find additional resources so I was interested in what tools it may contain. Turns out, its a lot! This resource provides teachers with lists of literally Best Teacher Resources, which include lesson plans, mini books and a collection of other various things. It also has Scholastic Wizard, which is a tool that points right where my weakness is: determining reading levels for children and how to balance your classroom's levels. This resource also includes a list called Crayola for Teachers, which has endless amounts of crafts and art projects to be implemented in the classroom. I love art and feel it should be a fundamental part in every subject, so I definitely will be using this in the future in my classroom.

Creation: Questions

We did not create anything but one question had me think about what I would ask my future employers.

- What technology is used in the classrooms and how often will I have access?
- How can my students engage with technology outside of class, if at all?
- Is there anything I should know or learn about your schools technology use that I need to prepare for ahead of time?

What I created

We didn’t have to create anything for this webinar, but I did like certain activities and plan to use them in my teaching eventually. Some of these activities include full name greeting which focuses on the goal of building community and an inclusive view of language, “Something’s Different” which focuses on the goal of understanding cultural characteristics.

This lesson didn’t really have us create anything besides our own identity web, a pic of which is posted in another section of this badge.

Teaching Tolerance

How to Be an Ally in the Classroom

Teaching Tolerance provides free resources to educators-teachers, administrators, counselors and other practitioners-who work with children from kindergarten through high school. Educators use our materials to supplement the curriculum, to inform their practices, and to create civil and inclusive school communities where children are respected, valued and welcome participants.
