On the first donor project they asked for 2 chapter books that will be done virtually for a 30 day reading lesson. I thought that the request for the books were good as they would be having a physical copy of the book. She had also mentioned that by having the text they would be preparing for third grade as they would be developing skills while away from school. I didn't see the point for the teacher adding that her students wanted to learn about inventing when she did not mention what the books she wanted were about. Are they reading about inventing?

The second donor project asked for backpacks for her classroom. Those backpacks would be filled with necessary materials such as clothes and medicine. I thought that it was great that the teacher brought up how much the school cares for the students and that they make school the one place that is constant and reliable. What I did not like to see was that it said that some students have parents who do not care about their education. Or that they have signed agendas or have been reading for 20 minutes per day. I don’t think that many of those parents really don’t care. Some families are honestly struggling with problems and are afraid to speak up. It felt wrong to just say they did not care.

The third donor project had asked for art supplies that would be given to families who do not have the materials at home. Those families are also being affected by the crisis going on at the moment. I liked that the teacher mentioned that she wanted hands on work to happen which goes back to the power of play on how they don’t need worksheets but play. I would have liked to see what kind of supplies she would like to invest on and how she would get it sent out to the families.
