Expectations

You can :

  • Visually explain a phenomenon.  The visual must be organized, flow, and coherently tell the story of your phenomenon and its relevance to a diverse audience.
    • The visual could be a game, poster, manipulative, comic strip, etc.  In other words, creative.

Why Earn This Badge?

In all fields, the importance of being able to explain and communicate your thoughts is essential. In science, visual models are often used to make predictions about and explain phenomenon, such as water moving up a tube.  A visual model can be used to provide an accurate explanation of a scientific phenomenon. This can help a novice not only understand the phenomenon, but explain it to another layperson.  This badge is part of a pathway of skills that can prepare you for being a Science Illustrator:
