Artifact 1: Lab Notebook
Submit your laboratory notebook to illustrate that you accurately identified the concentration of an unknown solution using a spectrophotometer. Notes with appropriate description and units should include:- λmax obtained from wavelength scan
- Dilution scheme that illustrates how standard solutions were prepared and their concentration values.
- Table recording concentration and absorbance values for standards
- Standard curve with equation
- Calculation for unknown concentration using the absorbance of the unknown solution at λmax
Artifact 2: Visual Instructions
Record a series of photos or a video of a spectrophotometer in use and reflect on how it is being used to answer a research question. Instructions should include:- Performing a wavelength scan
- Proper sample loading
- Recording an absorbance measurement
- Standard curve generation and use
