Types of Praise: Public and Private

There are more affective types of praise we can use for our students.

The most effective type of public praise is specific and unconditional. An example of this is, well done everybody, you worked really well as groups on your Industrial Revolution posters. The most effective type of private praise is specific and unconditional.  An example of this is, addressing an individual student: well done writing your "I Have a Dream" essay, you did a great job coming up with a main idea. You smile at them and then they are off to their next class.
