Self-awareness: being able to understand your own thoughts, feelings, and connecting those to behaviors; knowing your own strengths and how to build upon them most effectively; knowing and accepting your own weaknesses

Self-management: being able to take control of yourself and organize your thoughts and feelings putting them in towards identified goals and disciplining yourself

Responsible decision-making: acting in a positive manner that conforms to social norms and/or rules in a variety of environments

Relationship skills: the ability to build and maintain healthy, positive relationships with various types of cultural groups

Social awareness: ability to respect people from other backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, races, etc. and thinking from their mind's eye view

5 Core Social Emotional Competencies

Self Awareness:  understanding your emotions, thoughts etc. Once you know them can understand your individual strength and weaknesses. More positive actions.

Responsible Decision Making: Make positive and constructive choices, Individual/social. Understanding helps strengths and limitations.

Relationship Skills:
Ability to empathize with others, awareness of others difference individually and in groups. Treat others fairly makes positive relationships.

Social Awareness:
  Understanding social and ethical norms like treat others how you want to be treated.

Self Management:   Being able to control your emotions such as thoughts behaviors organizational skills.

5 SEC

self awareness a child's ability to understand themselves and identify emotions they are feeling. When they can name and identify their emotions, they can better understand how to manage their consequences.  This is done by learning the usual indicators of strong emotions and how they can manage them when they feel them. 

self management - when they recognize their emotions, they can cope with things that don't go their way.  It provides self regulation.

social awareness - a child's ability to show understanding and empathy to others.  By building those skills, they can learn how to work and relate better with those around them.  It's also important to talk about why somebody else might be feeling the way they feel.  

relationship skills - getting along with others, working in teams and dealing effectively with conflict. This requires communication building relationships negotiation and refusal

responsible decision making - taking time to go through all your available choices and making the best choice.  Responsible decision making is a culmination of a lot of different skills such as analyzing situations, assuming personal response. respecting others, problem solving. 

These are important skills to becoming a grown up who is a functioning member of society and can get along with others.

responsible decision-making: acting in a positive manner that conforms to social norms and/or rules in a variety of environments

relationship skills: the ability to build and maintain healthy, positive relationships with various types of people, groups

social awareness: ability to appreciate people from other backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, races, etc. and thinking from their mind's eye view
