Librarians Category 1 & 2

The training involved reviewing IB essays and rubrics to become familiar with the type to topics and research expected of IB students. I learned about the quality and type of research materials that IB students would need access to. This training gave me insight regarding materials to add to the CHS Library collection, a network of other IB librarians to collaborate with, and a better understanding of what research for an extended essay involves.

IB Service Learning 2017 IB CAS Learning 2016

IB Service Learning

In 2017 I went with a group to LA to learn about connecting service learning with the CAS program for IB. While it was overwhelming, it was helpful to learn new strategies and new ideas to better led our students into the right direction for the CAS program.

IB CAS Learning 2016

This was the first strand. I went to Houston to learn what the CAS program was about and how it worked with IB.

AP Lang and Lit

Shields, Schaef, and I attended training for IB Lang and Lit to start teaching some IB concepts at the 10th grade level. We learned about the IB Learner Profile and aligning our rubrics and grading. We also learned about identifying and utilizing globally-minded texts.

I am currently teaching IB, and cannot do so without proper training

At this training, I learned not only about the IB program, but also I learned a variety of new assessment strategies and approaches to

learning and teaching. My biggest takeaway from this training is that within our department, we should work towards "calibrating" or aligning our standards and expectations and that we need to make sure we are teaching relevant and global texts.

IB trainings

The trainings have greatly aided me in having a better understanding in the formatting of the exam as well as how to best assist my students. In addition to the presentation itself I have made great connections with other instructors who teach the same topics which has resulted in gathering even more resources and activities for my classroom.
