Five Tips

1. Spell check. I will not want to fund a classroom if I think the teacher can not serve the students at a base level.
2. Give detail. I doubt that any potential donor would avoid donating because there was too much information provided.
3. Don't ask for too much. I have seen some classrooms that are requesting everything but the kitchen sink, and it seems somewhat greedy.
4. But don't be afraid to ask for what you actually need. My previous tip might make it seem like, even if someone needs a lot, they shouldn't ask for it. But this ties back into giving detail; if the teacher lists many items, but can outline a specific purpose for each one, that is good.
5. Find a way to connect with the donors. You won't be able to reach all potential donors, but if people can relate to you, they will be more inclined to contribute.
