First of all I think that those exercises are perfect to get students engaged. Not only because they are created like a game but also because they deal with something the students have already experienced before. Through the incorporation of apps like flappy bird or angry birds students get interested in how those games they have already played before work.
In addition to that the sequences are very well structured. Most of them begin with a short tutorial explaining how to use the different tools. After that there are sequences of increasing difficulty to have the students slowly approach complex issues. At the end there is always a chance for the students to become creative and come up with their own version of the game.
I think that students can greatly benefit from it and learn a lot about coding. However, as it is quite self explaining I think it makes more sense to include this as a homework or within learning stations than in a normal lesson.
