High schooler invents tool to detect wound infection
1. Show main photo of Dasia Taylor
2. Talk about main ideas --> young black woman, high-school senior; science competition; preventing infection = suture turns a color when pH of skin changes (indicating infection)
3. Present vocabulary (20 words/concepts) in a PP, and give out corresponding handout:
scrape
scratch

develop = create = make

finalist = one of the top people in a competition

(pH scale with examples of common items)

“to be over the moon” = to be very, very happy
